Join us for a hands-on clinic designed to introduce horse owners to the basics of barefoot hoof trimming, and beyond. Whether your goal is to touch up trims between visits from a professional or to take over hoof care duties for your herd entirely, this clinic will get you started off on the right foot – er, hoof!

Not quite ready to pick up a rasp yet? Audit the clinic to become a more educated consumer of hoof care services – learn about healthy hoof anatomy and function, how to decide when your horse needs hoof care, and how to recognize a balanced hoof.

Free introduction/review: This is an intermediate-level clinic – but beginners are welcome! We’ll kick off the clinic at 9am with an introduction/review session to get everyone up to speed – free and open to the public! When the introductory session is over, if you haven’t pre-registered, you’ll have the option to sign on as an auditor and spend the day with us.

What will you learn in this clinic?

We’ll cover basic hoof anatomy, procedure and techniques for trimming the hoof wall using a hoof rasp and hoof stand, and how to check hoof balance using the sole as a guide. In this intermediate clinic, there will be more time for questions, with optional discussions and demos on trimming the frog and bars, trimming with knife and nippers, or other intermediate topics. More details in the Clinic Information Packet.
